Not An Outcry, It's a Support for Pnoy

The State of the Nation Address or SONA is an annual event in the Republic of the Philippines, in which the president of the republic reports on the status of the nation. This is a duty of the President as stated in Article VII, Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution. SONA is delivered every 4th Manday of July.

Different reaction and emotions came out from me after reading the SONA of Pnoy. There were achievements and changes that made me happy and at the same time, there were important issues missed that made me sad and unsatisfied. One of these misprojects was the Agrarian Reform for the poor farmers. Farmers are considered as the backbone of our country. Without them, the entire body of Filipino will suffer hunger and poverty. We are all benefited by the crops given by the farmers but why is it that the covernment continously take them for granted? When the transprters buy the crops from the farmers, the prices were very low but when the transporters sell these to the city markets, the the prices are very high not affordable by every Filipino. The farmers are those who worked very hard so they must be paid with enough amount. They should be receiving higher amounts than the transport companies. This is the sad real situation of our Filipino farmers. The government is the one responsible for this unhumane. Pnoy should take immidiate actions for this important issue.

Other issues not met in the 2nd SONA were on population, unaffordable goods, increase price of gasoline/oils, and increasing the salary not only bthe government employees but also the privates.

Base from the sreported achievements, Pnoy has the potential to raise our country's economis status. He still have 5 more years to make us satisfy his works. I hope that he could hinish all that he had started and that he would take immidiate actions for important issues.

Evem though I have listed my negative reactions, it doesn't mean that I am against his administration. I am not supporting the opposing parties. I am supporting Pnoy as our leader because we have the same aim. We both aim for the country's development. As we all say, Teamwork makes the dream work. If we will not work together and just stand at different sides, actions will not work out.

"Our Everyday Selfless Heroes"

Everybody knows who heroes are. In movies, they are the characters who, in the face of danger and adversity of from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self-sacrifice. But here in the real life, they are our fellows of distinguished courage or ability, and is admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

Nowadays, there are a lot of heroes arising. But for me, when we talk of communities, teachers are the best qualified to be honored as true heroes. I believe that a man doesn't need to fight thousands of people or write grievous novels and sacrifice his life to be called a "hero". Someone can be one by his own little ways by just doing simple things that can mean the most to people.

Teachers are persons who provide schooling for students. They are those who facilitate education for everybody. They are the men and women in profession who shoulder the most difficult task of providing a better education to the country’s future leaders. Others may sometimes see our teacher's job as simple or effortless but being a daughter of both educators, I say that doing their job may consume all of your powers everyday. All they do is to study to supply correct information to their students, check papers, finish grades on time and deal with stubborn students.  Doing their job is very hard but because of their good hearts to help others, they do it with selfless acts even if they only have very low amount of salary. In classroom scenario, the teachers are looked upon by students and pupils as their second parent. Though the teachers are lowly paid, yet they render service not only to students and pupils but also to the community.
And in danger and hard times, the hardworking school teachers are always there to give their utmost best.
Recently, there are many teachers reported for being very good to their poor students. There are those who sacrificed their time, efforts and money just to give enough education. Teachers also extend their obligations for giving advises about personal matters.

Without the presence of our teachers, would the nation have its doctors, politicians, scientists, nurses, next teachers, writers, mathematicians, attorneys, fathers, mothers, psychologists and philanthropists? Everybody knows that no one can get anywhere these days without a decent education and that the nation's welfare depends on an educated populace. Teachers are more beneficial to our nation than anyone else even the overseas Filipino workers earning money of other countries. Both of my parents are teachers, my two sisters are taking education as their course and me; I will also get an education course because I also want to be a honored hero. I will be a mentor in the future!

A Novel Hope

Dear Sir President,

A good day and a warm salutation to you Mr. President.

Your victory in getting the president's desk of the Philippines gave strength and trust to Philippine government. With your leadership, I conceive that there would be a substantial change in political and administrative trend in national public governance.

Being the president of a developing country is really a great responsibility. There are many problems that are in need of immediate actions and solutions. Every Filipino is looking toward on your actions on the destruction  of abusive and selfish governance of the former administration. Change is what our country demands.

As a high school student, I appreciate your concerns regarding K+12. I heard that recently, you supported this program but in my opinion, such plan is a mistake. Our public schools still have lot of financial problems. Example of these is the shortage of school facilities such as books. If this will be implemented, we will be in need of more classrooms, books, and teachers so as a result, new problems will arise. If your point is for additional education, there must be a training for teachers instead of  having K + 12. It's effete and useless having additional years of studying  if teachers will not be proficient in their work. This is one factor why students can't get full and high quality of learning. Another point to disagree with that is the additional expense for parents due to time spending.

Another vexation is about the irresponsible and careless manipulation and consumption of our natural resources. We are rich in environment and natural resources but why is it that we can't use it for our immediate progress? Sometimes, I thought of Filipinos being feckless to his actions. We need resourcefulness so that we could discover small things that could give us big help.

Sir, Filipinos believe in your power and abilities. We are expecting a lot from you. We hope that you'll do your best to lead us to the right path of success. This is a novel desire.

          Thank you!

"Isulong ang BREASTFEEDING- Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo"

The greatest factor contributing and affecting the Philippine population is the fertility rate of the country. For every one minute, an average og three babies are born. There's a need to these infants to be nourished well for our country's tomorrow ang future.

With regards with this matter, the National Nutrition Council created the nutrition month celebrated every July in accordance to Presidential Decree No. 491 known as the Nutrition Act of the Philippines. The 2011 theme which is " Isulong ang Breastfeeding- Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo" mainly focuses on key messeges to ensure succesful breastfeeding practices and encourage every moms to help promote, protect and support correct breasfeeding practices. This theme is in connection to the Department of Health's campaign on communication for behavioral impact on breastfeeding which is "Breastfeeding TSEK ( Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo)" 'Tama' by immidiate bonding between mom and her baby, 'Sapat' by encouraging mothers that breastmilk is just enough for baby, and 'EKsklusibo' by giving only breastmilk and no other milk to babies.

The human milk is naturally designed by God for infant  (human) consumption. The milk is nutritious, safe and always fresh. It helps infants for fast body parts development and gives protection against infections, diseases and illnesses. It also gives at least 98 percent protection to lactating moms from pregnancy for 6 months and decreases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Psychologically, breastfeeding promotes bonding element and increases self- esteem to moms. Financially, breastfeeding benefits the family for saving as much as 2000 pesos a month when compared to using commercial milks. And mentally, it enhances chilkd's intelligence.

The seventh National Nutrition Survey revealed that among 100 infants, 27 were given other milk and foods. And in addition, some of these babies die because they were not breastfed immidiately after he was born. So let us face the reality, and save our country by producing healthier, immuned and developed future citizens. Let's promote breastfeeding- Right, Enough and Exclusive!
