ICT

"If you're not failing every now and again, it is a sign you're not doing anything very innovative." -W. Aleen -

Entering the world of computers means entering the modern world. If you don't know to manipulate the thing, well they will say 'you've been left behind'. When I was still at the beginning of my high school life, I have a blank information about computers and the net. I was not taught of anything about it during elementary because I studied in a public school wherein we still don't have computer units to use. So what does it take to be an ICT student? Being an ICT student doesn't require students to be that competent to man computers. Even if you don't know anything at first because the teachers will be the one to make you that very good one. From first year to fouth year, from computer room number 2 to 1 to 3, I've experienced how to make own accounts in the net, movies, etch. If there will be a test to compare my capabilities in first year and now, well I can say that I've improved a lot. I'm not saying that I am that great but at least I learned Thanks to my past and present computer mentors, for they have shared me their knowledge.

Journey to Our Dreams

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” This is a very inspiring quotation written by Harriet Tubman.

No one can help himself from dreaming. Even little kid in his very young age starts to talk about what they want to have and to be when time comes. If he sees someone or something along his way in everyday life, he tends to make future plans just to have or to be that thing or person. At the end of the day, one will realize that he has made and taught of many plans already.

People have infinite number of dreams and plans. I believe that a graduating high school student who is at the cross road of life like me has the most number of either simple or great dreams. We are soon living the life that we have used to. Now, everybody in the room start talking about their courses and who they aspire to be after college life. There is only one goal and this is to be successful career men and women. Most of them want to be accountants, nurses, lawyers, architects, engineers and doctors. But me, I just want to be a proud and a great mentor. Yeah, this is just an ordinary vocation, but take note that this is no-simple-dream. To touch students’ lives is something great. To sacrifice and to give your time, knowledge and effort for the youth is another.

My future plan doesn’t stop being a mentor someday, I want to visit beautiful places not only here in the country but also all over the whole wide world. When I will already have enough bank account to do the adventures, I will pick Palawan as my first destination. I adore the place very much. This place is the richest in the country when talking of nature. It has a large number of different plants and endangered wild animals but sad to say that bad people are trying to ruin the paradise. I also want to visit countries in Europe especially London because I really admire its great architectures and I want that when I will go to these places, my best friends will be my companions.

Don’t stop dreaming and believing. Our future plans will serve as our guide to success. Don’t be afraid to fail because we never know God’s plan for us. Just try and try until we succeed.

Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival

The fiesta is part and bundle of Filipino culture. It has been pass from old to new generations. Through good times and bad times, the fiesta must go on. Each of its city and barrio has at their own local festivals. These are the seasons celebrated with all the display and show the fun-loving Filipino can handle and usually on the feast of their patron saints so that there is always a fiesta going on somewhere in the country.

Being an Iloco, the greatest and grandest fiesta is the Kannawidan Festival. This is celebrated annually by the people every 29th day of January to 5th day of February. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. It commemorate the foundation day of the Ilocos Sur as separate province. This event let the Ilocos to preserve old traditions, the province’ attractive products and practices and at the same time, promoting the local tourism industry. It drew local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events had been included in the celebration. And the richness of the province in heritage and unique cultures is another reason why people visit the place.

Every night, there are different programs planned by the government. There are also parades and prosessions. There are also different contests for elementary and high school students. These include traditional tribal rituals, choir and glee club competition, marching band contest, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, traditional and folk dances, contemporary dance competition and street dancing showdown. These events aimed to encourage young Ilocanos to learn these indigenous songs and dances for sustainability and preservation.

To sum up, the most significant effect is that it helps boost the demand of our products, more job opportunities and livelihood opportunities were crated and more income for our people were generated.
